Water

Water is memory. Water and memory are both fluid and changeable, both having a porous boundary between reality and memory. What happened is unchangeable, but the memory of it is malleable and fallible. Just as light passes through water, and bends and distorts images and objects, memory is immersive and can be reshaped, distorted, exaggerated, and remembered differently from how it occurred. Water, in the studio, became my metaphor for memory and its abstracting, distorting nature.
